Oxford Hawks Junior Hockey Festival 2008
Even before the mist lifted on Sunday morning, small children, some as young as four could be seen making their way towards BRN clutching sticks, shin pads and mouthguards eager to take part in the third annual Oxford Hawks Junior Hockey Festival. Over 200 children from Hawks, Wallingford, City of Oxford, Banbury, Rover Oxford and Witney entered teams in under 8, under 10 and under 12 age groups. It was great to see the pitch at BRN full of so many young people enjoying playing hockey. The emphasis of the event was on taking part and all children received a medal from Hawks president Paddy Roche at the end of their competition. Many thanks to Alison Chapman and Nick Gordon for organising the event and to all the adults who helped in many ways on the day
